THE LONG STORY

The Sub Machine Fuzz kicks open the door to epic and unbridled sonic exploration. This mean little box combines the shaggy vintage tones of the La Machine Fuzz with a growling sub octave circuit, giving you a one way ticket to the sonic frontiers of heavy.

The Sub Machine Fuzz features the La Machine Fuzz’s circuitry and all of its functions—from its Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls to its electrifying octave up mode.—but it’s also got an old school sub octave circuit with its own level control, so you can dial in just the right mix of fuzz and sub octave signals.

To further broaden the Sub Machine Fuzz’s thunderous tonal palette, the MXR team added a Series switch so you can run the sub octave signal straight into the fuzz—for some seriously subterranean saturation—or alongside the fuzz for a split channel effect.


• Run a cable from your guitar to the M225’s INPUT jack and run another cable from the M225’s OUTPUT jack to your amplifier.

• Turn the effect on by depressing the BYPASS footswitch.

• Start with all controls at 12 o’clock. • Rotate SUB control clockwise to increase volume of Sub-Octave signal or counterclockwise to decrease it.

• To engage the Fuzz signal’s Octave Up mode, depress the OCTAVE footswitch.

• Rotate VOLUME control clockwise to increase volume of fuzz signal or counterclockwise to decrease it.

• Rotate TONE control clockwise for a warmer fuzz sound or counterclockwise for a brighter fuzz sound.

• Rotate FUZZ control clockwise to increase amount of fuzz or counterclockwise to decrease it.

• Pushing the SERIES switch toggles between Parallel mode (switch OUT)—which runs the Sub-Octave and Fuzz signals independently of each other— to Series mode (switch IN, indicated by yellow LED), which runs the Sub-Octave signal into the Fuzz signal.
